Synthetic Route
| Toluene is chlorinated to form benzyl dichloride (dichloromethylbenzene), and then it is obtained by alkaline (or acid-base combination) hydrolysis and vacuum distillation. Benzyl alcohol can be obtained by hydrolysis of benzyl chloride, and then this product can be obtained after oxidation. |
